Mearls first outing was the series PEAKY BLINDERS. Set in the ganglands of 1920s Birmingham, the soundtrack contained existing Jack White & Nick Cave tracks. The challenge was to produce a score that came from the same world & boasted an equal edge & individuality. For this I worked with longterm musical partner Ruth Barrett to put together a band with drummer Daisy Palmer & guitarist Josh Davenport (from fast rising outfit EYES ON FILM), session harmonica player Ben Edwards & electric violinist Anna Phoebe. The score was recorded in all parts of The Laundry, including the roof & the corridors.
